Roger Caras
I will come for as many visits per day that you wish to pay for. Typicaly with dogs, it's twice per day. While with cats and farm animals, it's typically once per day. Farm visits typically consist of feeding and making sure that there is water. I will bring in the eggs for you as well. I am not a farm hand, so cleaning of stalls, or things of that nature, I will not do. But we may be able to negotiate if this is something you need done, and my schedule allows for it. I also AM NOT a dog walker. So all dogs must have access to an outside area without having to go for a walk to get there. I will distribute medications as needed, and always strive to take care of your animals per your specific instrctions. But I can not promise you that I won't give an extra snack or two while at a visit. Sometimes it just hard to say no when those eye look up at me. I know they are manipulating me, and I should stand firm. I will try to stand firm if you absolutely need me to!
When a dog is boarded with me, I very rarely keep the dog in a kennel. The only time your dog will be in a kennel is if the owner requests it. Or for example, if the pet is older and needs a secure space, if there are some issues with potty training (but this would be primarily only for night time), or if I need to separate for feeding. When a dog is boarded here at CDD, my goal is to have your dog feel like they are on a vacation while you are away. The dogs have access to all 3 acres of my property, and they are encouraged to run and play and just be a dog! This often entails them getting dirty, finding mud, getting wet in the pond, or rolling in something that they find they just can't resist ( I do live on a farm)! PLEASE DO NOT FEEL THE NEED TO GROOM YOUR DOG BEFORE BOARDING! You might want to save that for when you pick them up!
When you arrive, please keep your dog on the leash.
Also, some dogs are very skittish and nervous by nature. But rest assured. While your dog is here at CDD, I will work on encouraging him/her to feel safe, to go out and play, and to offer/provide a loving environmnet. With that being said, it is also very important for a pet owner to undersrtand that this nervous behaviour may sometimes cause your dog not eat much while being boarded, or he/she may get a bit of "the runs", or even have some stinky gas. Sometimes it's just hard being a dog.
I am able to board a cat or two. They will be kept in a separate room, in a sufficient size kennel, but will have the availability to come out of the kennel for play and cuddle time.
I can board rodents, but you must supply a small cage for them and the items that they will need.
Yes! I am capable of boarding small farm animals depending on the length of stay and what the animal is. Do you have a goat, a sheep, a pony? I can definitley board for you. I can also board a smaller horse, even a cow. So if you have a question about that, please don't hesitate to reach out to me!
Please bring your pet's medications, and any special blankets/bed to make them feel at home. I provide bedding, bowls, and kennels as needed. I provide food for pets during their stay if you prefer not to bring your own food.
Yes, we require all pets to be up to date on their vaccinations for their safety and the safety of other pets in our care. Primarily what I will be most concerned with is an up to date Rabies vaccination, and you will be expected to provide that proof if asked.
I have no set hours, as I am available by appointment only. Pick up for boarding is by 11am, and pick up for Doggy Day Care is by 6pm.
I require at least a 24-hour notice for cancellations. Cancellations may be subject to a fee.
This is always on a TBD basis. But typically, I do not offer discounts on any service.
